Seachem tidal 55 power filter1/19/2024 Alongside that, I decided to add fine filter foam above and below the coarse blue one that came with the Tidal 55, therefore sandwiching it. I reset the tank on the 3rd day since I wasn't happy with the landscaping. I got good results off the bat, water was cleared well within a few hours of cycling. Granted, I've never owned a canister or a sump so it's safe to say that it's the best filter I ever bought. I purchased the Tidal 55 last week and I found it to be a really, really good hob filter. I never considered spending this much on a filter. This time with a quality filter which is a first. Not all water being pumped through passed all the media but like I said, they did the job.įast-forward 5 years later, got back in the hobby and setup a new 22g freshwater tank. I instead retrofitted them with foam pads and bio media in their very limited space. They did the job but required cartridges which I never bought. To be honest, they did a pretty good job considering I was running them on a reef aquarium which I don't think they were made for. In the past, I used various cheap hob filters. Thanks for reading this far and if you have any other input feel free to discuss it. The only downside in my opinion is it's only available in 3 sizes but other than that it's the best power filter on the market. Other than that it has a flow rate adjustment and you can select the amount you want the skimmer to take in. The last two features that really sold this filter to me are it has a self priming motor that is in the tank so there's no waiting for it to prime during startup and it has a built in surface skimmer. Another nice feature is that while the tidal only comes with Matrix-bio media and a foam pad Seachem has a number of different options for media AND a practically sized media basket which allows for plenty of different configurations and stages. First thing I'd like to mention about it is that it comes with a warranty that's automatically 3 years but can be extended to 5 years by registering it on their website which is pretty nice if anything happens to it down the road. I've used many Aqueon QuietFlow's, a couple in the Aquaclear line, and some really bad one that Marina manufactured but recently when setting up a couple of 36 gallon bowfronts and a 60 gallon tank I discovered that Seachem has a filter called the tidal. This also means that after a power outage, the filter will automatically restart itself. There are many different options to choose from when shopping for a HOB power filter. The self-priming pump means there's no need to fill the filter basket with water, start a siphon, monitor the filter, or any of the other headaches of starting a new filter. The basket is fully removable and snaps into the lid of the filter for easy and drip-free transit to a sink or hose for cleaning. The redirected water pushes up the blue maintenance alert on the top of the filter, signaling that the filter needs to be cleaned. When this happens in Tidal™ filters, water is redirected around the filter and back into the aquarium through an outlet on the side. Over time, filtration media can become clogged with detritus reducing or obstructing the flow of water through it. Heater holderĪ heater can be attached to the side with an optional heater clip, allowing for better dispersal of heated water through the aquarium. Easily adjust how much flow comes from the underwater intake pipe versus the surface skimmer with the intake flow dial. With Tidal's dual intake, it pulls water in through the telescoping pipe below the surface and at the surface through the surface skimmer. The surface skimmer will capture the water from just below the surface, where excreted fish oils accumulate, as well as deeper in the tank removing floating debris. Adjust using the dial on the front, for a powerful full flow rate of 450 gallons per hour on the Tidal 110 down to a gentle 90 gallons per hour on the same filter. Fully adjustable flow regulationįully adjustable flow regulation adjusts performance to a specific aquarium volume, type, or provide an environment for fish which prefer more or less water movement or oxygenation. With a host of features including a self-priming pump, dual water intake with surface skimmer, adjustable flow, maintenance monitor, self-cleaning impeller, and a filter basket that holds any kind of filtration media - and more of it - Tidal™ Power Filters are designed to deliver the highest water quality possible with maximum versatility and ease of use. They are easy to use and adaptable to a variety of aquarium conditions. Tidal™ Power Filters are designed from the ground up to provide your aquarium with high-quality, comprehensive filtration.
